LAV Filters add support for a wide variety of video formats. If a video is unable to play after installing the MediaMonkey Codec Pack, try the LAV Filters. They are a set of DirectShow filters based on the libavformat and libavcodec libraries from the ffmpeg project, which will allow you to play virtually any format in a DirectShow player.

LAV Filters are compatible with any version of MediaMonkey for Windows.

AC3 Filter decodes and processes AC3 audio used in some movies (DVD, MPEG4 and others). Only install this codec if you have already installed the MediaMonkey Codec Pack and FFDshow and video is playing without any audio. Note: install the 'Stable' version of the codec from the download link.

The FFDshow codec pack adds support for a wide variety of video formats. If a video is unable to play even after installing the MediaMonkey Codec Pack, try installing FFDshow. Note: Install the x32 version, and use the default settings--no configuration should be required.

The Haali Media Splitter (also known as the Matroska Splitter) may be required for MKV video files that can't be played even when the MediaMonkey Codec Pack has been installed.

This plug-in allows MediaMonkey to play files encoded in the MP3 Pro format which offers some improvements over standard MP3s. Note, however, that this plug-in is also used for standard MP3 playback--something you may not desire if you're using another MP3 plug-in. To install, close MediaMonkey, run the installer, and then copy the in_mp3PRO.dll from the Winamp Plugins directory to C:Program FilesMediaMonkeyPlugins . Restart MediaMonkey, and scan your drives for MP3Pro files.

Quicktime can be useful if you're unable to play certain video files (.mov or .3GP) even after installing the MediaMonkey Codec Pack and FFDshow.

In addition, either Quicktime or the MediaMonkey Codec Pack are needed to play M4A files > 48KHz. It is advisable to only use Quicktime as a last resort since Apple is no longer updating it for bugs or security issues after version 7.7.9 released Jan. 2016.

Note for Windows 10 users: Version 7.7.9 can be installed to Windows 10--even though Apple's site indicates that it's only compatible with Windows 7.
