MediaMonkey for Android is available in different license configurations: the free version has some limitations that can be unlocked individually via in-app upgrades, or as a whole via ‘MediaMonkey Pro’.
The free version of MediaMonkey has limitations on:
- Wi-Fi Sync – limited to 7 days
- UPnP/DLNA – limited to 30 minutes at a time
- Folder browsing
- Home screen customization
- Lyrics lookup
The above limitations can be removed via:
- MediaMonkey Pro: This is an ‘unlocker’ app (available via the Play / Amazon app stores) that unlocks all functionality in one go.
- Note: Earlier versions of MediaMonkey for Android supported in-app upgrades to unlock individual features. These included the following which are now available only to those who purchased them before 2023:
- Wi-Fi Sync addon: unlocks unlimited wireless synchronization.
- UPnP/DLNA addon: unlocks unlimited UPnP/DLNA usage.
- Advanced Media Management addon: unlocks home screen customization, folder browser.

Using an existing license on a new Android device
Note that MediaMonkey for Android and MediaMonkey for Windows are licensed independently: a MediaMonkey for Android Pro license will not unlock MediaMonkey for Windows Gold features. Moreover, licensing for MediaMonkey for Android is not transferable between the Google Play Store and the Amazon App Store.
