If for some reason, your installation of MediaMonkey is corrupted and want to do a clean install of MediaMonkey or you no longer wish to use MediaMonkey, you can uninstall MediaMonkey as follows:

1. Close MediaMonkey and verify via the Windows Task Manager (CTRL-ALT-DELETE) that it’s no longer running.
2. Uninstall MediaMonkey via the Windows Control Panel. This will remove the application, file associations, and registration information.
   • On Windows 10: Via the Start menu > Settings > Apps select MediaMonkey and use the Uninstall button.
   • On Windows 8: Type ‘control panel’ in the search bar to launch the Control Panel, click ‘Programs and Features’, select ‘MediaMonkey’, and then click ‘uninstall’.
   • On Windows 7: Launch the Control Panel via the Start menu, click ‘Uninstall a program’, select ‘MediaMonkey’, and click ‘uninstall’.
   • On Windows XP: Launch the Control Panel via the Start menu, click ‘Add or Remove Programs’, select ‘MediaMonkey’, and click “Change/Remove’.

For most users that’s sufficient, but if you want to remove any traces of the MediaMonkey and its database (e.g. if you’ll never need it again or if it was corrupted) then you can proceed with the following additional steps:

1. Delete the contents of %PROGRAMFILES(X86)%\MediaMonkey 5 (for MediaMonkey 5+) or %PROGRAMFILES(X86)%\MediaMonkey (for older versions of MediaMonkey). This removes any scripts, plugins, and configuration files that you may have added.
2. Delete the folder that contains the .ini and database file(s)–there may be more than one if you’ve installed multiple versions. This can be found in the following location.
   NOTE: Deleting the database is only required if you’re having database problems, wish to completely reset your synchronization profile or wish to completely remove MediaMonkey.

To remove a portable installation of MediaMonkey, simply delete the folder where you installed MediaMonkey. This folder contains all the files used by MediaMonkey.

At this point all remnants of MediaMonkey have been removed. If you wish to re-install:

1. Empty your browser’s cache and download the latest version of MediaMonkey.
2. Install MediaMonkey, and register it (if you have a license key).

Alternatively, MediaMonkey 4+ allows you to use a Portable Installation to test a clean installation. Just check the option Portable Installation during the Setup wizard and choose a different folder to install than you used previously. That way, the portable installation will not have any effect on your current installation.

NOTES

• Once you remove the database file there is no recovery for playlists, play history, device profiles, podcast subscriptions, etc.
