MediaMonkey, as of MediaMonkey 4, supports a ‘Portable App’ mode. This allows you to use MediaMonkey without having it making changes to Windows or to install MediaMonkey on a portable drive and use it with different PC’s.

If MediaMonkey is installed as a ‘Portable Install’, then it cannot be installed in the Program Files directory normal software is installed; it must be installed to a location that is independent of the host system, otherwise, the following error will result:
Cannot create file ‘C:\Program Files\MediaMonkey\Portable\MediaMonkey.registry’.

To resolve, uninstall MediaMonkey, and either:

1. Install it to the same location in non-Portable mode
2. Install it to a different location like C:\MediaMonkey or on a portable drive
