Problems Scanning Networked Files

Networked paths don’t appear in the Scan dialog

In some network environments, Add Location > Network > Microsoft Windows Network will fail to display any servers on the local network. To work around this:

  1. Open Windows Explorer
  2. Navigate to a Shared Folder containing music on the LAN
  3. Copy the full path from Windows Explorer Address bar (e.g. \\192.168.0.2\data or \\NAS\data)
  4. Open MediaMonkey for Windows
  5. Tap File -> Add/Rescan Files to Library -> Add Location -> Network
  6. Paste the Path copied in step 3. into the text box and click ‘Add’
  7. Expand to show other folders on the server, and check those you’d like to scan
  8. Click Scan

Scanning Mapped Drives Fails

In some cases, attempts to scan a mapped drive will not work correctly and may result in files scanning only to later get greyed out or fail to scan even though an earlier scan worked. This can occur if Windows changes the Drive ID associated with the mapped drive. The workaround is to use full network paths.
